We’re thrilled to announce that ASSERTIO Language Services has successfully completed the localization of Beast, The Great Hunt, and Shattered Islands into Italian and German for our client, Studio Midhall.

This was no ordinary translation job—Studio Midhall's games are rich, immersive experiences with complex gameplay mechanics, narrative depth, and carefully crafted world-building. Localizing them required much more than linguistic accuracy: it demanded deep familiarity with board game terminology and genre conventions.

A Truly Multilayered Challenge

From the dark, asymmetric gameplay of Beast to the dynamic storytelling of The Great Hunt and the high-stakes tension of Shattered Islands, each title presented its own linguistic and conceptual challenges. Key elements included:

  • Rulebooks full of technical nuance

  • Flavor text that needed to be compelling and culturally relevant

  • Character abilities, item descriptions, and event cards that had to remain balanced and clear in both target languages

Thanks to our dedicated team of native-speaking translators, DTP specialists and volunteer reviewers appointed by Studio Midhall, we were able to deliver faithful, high-quality localizations that captured the tone, clarity, and tactical depth of the original content—while making it feel completely natural to Italian and German-speaking players.

Collaboration, Flexibility, and Passion for Games

Working closely with Studio Midhall’s team, we maintained an agile workflow, incorporating client feedback, terminology guidance, and gameplay context every step of the way. This collaborative approach helped ensure the final result wasn’t just accurate—it was immersive and fun.

Ready for the Tabletop

We’re proud to have contributed to bringing these titles to a wider European audience. Whether you’re a veteran hunter or a first-time explorer, Beast, The Great Hunt, and Shattered Islands are now ready to be enjoyed in Italian and German, thanks to the combined effort of Studio Midhall and ASSERTIO.
